Parish Priest Message
Sizeable number of people would have gone for holidays. Welcome back and hope you enjoyed your relaxation and change of work. Here in our parish family we had Spoken English Programme for our people. About 50 people participated and gained little confidence to speak in English. Students from Stella Maris college helped us in this program. We thank all the organizers. After our evaluation and discussion we want to continue this program for the whole year.
The Month of May has given us a wonderful opportunity to take part in the Marian devotion. Daily in the evening we had Rosary and Holy Mass before the Grotto. Many people participated and were spiritually grown. I thank sincerely all who helped us to organize this spiritual and rejuvenating event. God bless you.
In June we have the 98th Annual Feast at St.Antony’s Church on Cathedral Road from 4th to 13th.
The Archdiocesan Shrine of our Lady of Light, Luz is now embarking on our pastoral planning process by setting up a vision statement and taking up good direction. Keeping Faith and Fellowship we approach this process in a spirit of faith, hope and love. I have deep hope in what we can accomplish together with God’s grace as we confidently plan our future as one God’s family. I request that you join me in holding this important revitalization process in prayer in the days to come.
My dear students have a wonderful new academic year.
We have started our countdown clock to celebrate our Quincentenary Jubilee of our historical parish. Let’s enjoy god’s countless blessings. God Bless you all.
My Dear Friends, Mary’s chief glory is in her nothingness, in the fact of being the “Handmaid of the Lord” as one who in becoming the mother of god acted simply in loving submission to his command, in the pure obedience of faith. She is blessed not because of some mythical pseudo-divine prerogative but in all her human and womanly limitations as one who has believed. It is the faith and the fidelity of this humble handmaid, “full of grace” that enables her to be the perfect instrument of god, and nothing else but his instrument. The work that was done in her purely the work of god. “He that is mighty has done great things in me”. The glory of Mary is purely and simply the glory of god in her and she, like anyone else, can say that she has nothing that she has not received from him through Christ. Jesus chose to come to us through Mary and faithful Christians can choose to go to Jesus through Mary. Our blessed Mother who is unique in all of God’s creations, has a perfect love for Jesus. She is exemplary model for how we should love god, giving us a flawless example. Mary is closer to Christ than any other person and knows best what leads us to him. Saint Alphonsus Liguori, doctor of the Church tells “If you persevere until death in true devotion to Mary, your salvation is certain” . May the Mother of Mercy intercede for all of us! God Bless You!
